TANA RIVER COUNTY ( CHARA WAGOSHA OTHA)
Tana River County, particularly the areas of Chara, Wagosha, and Otha, faces severe challenges due to recurrent flooding. These floods cause widespread displacement, job losses, sickness, famine, and even loss of life. The affected communities, who largely depend on agriculture and livestock, find themselves trapped in a cycle of poverty and vulnerability.

Noufa conducted extensive research and identified practical solutions to mitigate the effects of flooding. As part of our initial efforts, we provided food supplies and crop seeds to support the community in rebuilding their livelihoods. Additionally, we constructed toilets to improve sanitation, distributed medicine to tackle health crises, and worked to alleviate the immediate suffering caused by the floods. These efforts were well-received and brought hope to many families.

Unfortunately, due to recurring challenges and limited resources, Noufa has been unable to sustain its interventions recently. Despite this, we remain committed to long-term solutions. With adequate funding, we can implement comprehensive measures to address the flooding menace, including the creation of water channels to redirect excess water safely. Such infrastructural developments would not only mitigate flooding but also enhance agricultural productivity and improve living conditions.

The resilience of the people of Tana River County inspires us to continue striving for impactful change. With collective support and funding, we can help transform these vulnerable communities into thriving ones, ensuring a safer and more prosperous future for all.
